Services - Roofing

Single-Ply Roofing systems are factory fabricated sheets that are installed in the field as a single layer. They are bonded to the roof surface with a heat gun. Single ply membranes are strong, flexible sheets composed predominately of synthetic polymer. They are sealed at joints to form continuous waterproofing. When combined with insulation and continuous support they form complete, durable roof systems.

Single-Ply Roofing membranes also offer a solution to concerns for the environment and energy conservation: light-colored, reflective roof surfaces offer building occupants a significant reduction in energy use.

Single-Ply Roofing membranes have grown in popularity due to their flexibility, relative ease of installation, and competitive price. The consistency in the quality of the products is undeniably one of its selling points.

Built-Up Roofing Also known as ‘tar and gravel (for the materials used), built-up roofs are made of up to four alternating ply, or layers, of roofing felt paper and asphalt. A layer of gravel may be placed on a built-up roof to add protection from the weather and to improve wind resistance.

Generally a Built-Up Roofing system, when properly applied, can be expected to last for many years, and this life can be increased considerably by adequate maintenance. This service life is dependent on many factors: geographical location & weather conditions, foot traffic, materials used, conditions under which the roof was installed, slope of roof, type of surfacing material, etc. Under ideal conditions, a 3-ply built-up roof should last at least fifteen years, a 4-ply should last at least 20 years, and a 5-ply should last at least 25 years.
